description. ​Bricks on Sticks was an introductory project to the fundamental principles underlying structural design, forces and loads, the mechanics of materials, and structural form or geometry. I was required to construct a simple spanning structure, using a restricted palette of materials, to support a single standard format, fired-clay brick at mid-span over a clear span of 450mm. This meant that my “bridge” had to be longer than 450mm to rest on either side of the span.
